This project is part of the Leonardo Guitar Research project. Research on non-tropical woods not commonly used in guitar making is one of the main objectives of this European research project that CMB and CVO started school year 2012-2013, in cooperation with Finnish, Dutch and French partners. The aim of the project is to move towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly building practice. There will be about 20 guitars built by students of the CMB and the IKATA-school in Finland. These will be evaluated, tested, played and exhibited at Cordefactum 2014.

This guitar is construted from traditional tropical woods: Indian rosewood sides and back, cedrela neck and ebony finger board. The top is made of spruce. Scale length is 650 mm.

This guitar will serve to make the comparison between guitars made of tropical woods and guitars made of non-tropical woods.
